Take a Shot at Biathlon

A great way to be introduced to biathlon for the first time, or the 10th time! Take a Shot at Biathlon provides the opportunity to receive instruction one-on-one from our Range Marshal and shoot with precision .22 Caliber CZ Rifles, or with the Para-Biathlon Infrared Rifles.

Cost: Each session is $20 per person.

Requirements:

  • 10 years of age and older
  • Minors must exhibit mature behavior
  • Minors must be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian at all times at the range
  • All participants must sign safety waiver
  • Use of range and equipment is restricted unless in the presence of an authorized Range Marshal
  • No free shooting or non-biathlon shooting is allowed at Ariens Nordic Center

USBA Red Book Safety Certification Course

Cost: $75 per person

Course includes:

  • Classroom and practical range lessons
  • Safety handling of a .22 rifle while participating in biathlon
  • How to participate in biathlon
  • Understand necessary equipment needed
  • Receive USBA Red Book Certification after course completion
  • Become a United States Biathlon Association Member (required)
  • Age 10 or older required and must exhibit mature behavior
  • No experience or personally owned equipment is required

Biathlon Open Range

Looking to become USBA Red Book Safety Certified? Ariens Nordic Center offers a one-day course to receive your USBA safety credentials. If participation in local or national range practices and/or races is desired, USBA Red Book Safety Certification is required.

Course is approximately 8am – 2pm with lunch, beverages and snacks provided!

Open Range is available to those who desire range practice. To be eligible to register, participants must be 1) 10 Years of Age or Older 2) Active USBA Member,  3) USBA Red Book Safety Certified and 4) Purchase an Ariens Nordic Center Range Pass.

Verify your USBA Membership and Red Book Safety Certification Credentials with Ariens Nordic Center. Please 1) create a profile with Ariens Nordic Center and 2) complete the Verification Form.

Once a profile is created and the USBA Verification Form is submitted, Ariens Nordic Center will contact you within 2 business days to grant access to register online for Open Range times. You will register for Open Range times within your profile with Ariens Nordic Center.

Please remember to purchase your Biathlon Range Pass onsite at Ariens Nordic Center and sign Ariens Nordic Center Safety Waiver to be granted range access.

  • Electronic controls
  • KES scoring system, including wind speed and direction
  • 10m Para 10-point Target System includes infrared rifles and two visually impaired target systems

Biathlon Range Access

The biathlon range is available to participants in scheduled coach sessions and open range use time. Open range use time will be available beginning January 2023 and an availability calendar will be published. Participants must purchase a range annual pass or range daily ticket in person at Ariens Nordic Center for access to the range. The biathlon range pass or ticket is specific to the range only. If access to Nordic center trails is also desired, a separate Nordic center pass or ticket is required.

Biathlon Range Use Requirements

  • Active USBA member and Rifle Safety “red book” certified
  • 10 years or older
  • Minors must exhibit mature behavior
  • Minors (under age 18) must be accompanied by a range certified adult
  • Safety and liability waivers must be signed for all participants
  • No free shooting or non-biathlon shooting is allowed at Ariens Nordic Center
