Biathlon Weekend Camp
Join us at Ariens Nordic Center for a weekend of all things biathlon! The weekend biathlon camp is intended for club-level biathletes from early development to an advanced level. Coaches will teach and challenge all abilities.
Prerequisites:
- Ages 12 and up
- Brick of ammo (500 rounds)
- Prior Biathlon Safety Certification
- Basic knowledge of biathlon
- Roller skis (helmet) and running shoes
- BYO-rifle (limited supply of Ariens CZ rifles at an additional cost of $50 for the weekend, including ammo)
- No on-premise camping
Itinerary:
FRIDAY, JUNE 7
8am – 11:30am Registration, familiarization with facility/trails, rifle fit check, position, athletic warm-ups, ski-run
11:30am Boxed lunch at Trailhead Building (included in registration fee)
12 – 4:30pm Camp activities begin
- Individual Goals/Objectives for camp
- Biathlon shooting skills
- How to proper zero
- Ski/shoot transition skills, 4 phases
- Mental attitude
- Psychology of shooting
4:30 – 6pm Dinner on your own (not included in registration fee)
6pm Shooting contest followed by group R&R around the firepit at Trailhead Building
SATURDAY, JUNE 8
8am Roller Skiing
- Skills/drills
- Technique, speed, and stability
- Group and individual instruction
10am Range
- Novice/med/advanced drills
- Shooting process 6S reducing range time, increasing accuracy
- Elevated HR shooting, speed shooting, slow shooting, dryfire, SCATT instruction, approach, and stability
12pm Boxed lunch at Trailhead Building (included in registration fee)
1 – 4:30pm Breakout groups based on experience
- Building skills, ski & shoot (off-hand and prone)
- Shooting tests to measure progress
4:30 – 6pm Dinner on your own (not included in registration fee)
6pm Shooting contest/tests, followed by more fun around the patio and firepit
SUNDAY, JUNE 9
9am Race preparation, attitude, and psychology
11am Biathlon Race (format TBD, race to practice new skills)
